With the analysis made by RLS's Forecast Optimisation Algorithm, we have been able to cut our fleet size by 22%. By using vehicles with a higher capacity, we have been able to increase the average number of deliveries from 25-35 per day. Although the inherent increase in the work load has necessitated a second worker in each vehicle, we have still been able to reduce our distribution costs by 30%. In the peak months as our product consumption increases and we place more trials, we employ new staff and rent additional vehicles on a short-term basis to meet the substantial increase in demand. We can therefore off-load the costly overhead associated with having a huge fleet of delivery vehicles, almost overnight if necessary.
